New Creations but WHERE ARE THE PICTURES?!?!?!?!?!?!
Well Mother Nature has not been too kind on our Saturday Night gatherings (at least for those of us who live out of town).. I was so bumped that I missed not only our New Year’s Eve gathering but also our second annual Slip ‘n Slide Into the New Year. However, this past weekend we did manage to avoid more beautiful if not treacherous elements. In preparation of the BIG GAME (the less said about the actual game, the better), our band of Disciple Day gatherers had a Super Bowl Sundae party on Saturday. ANYtime is a great time for ICE CREAM!!!!!!!!! Hot or Cold, Rain or Snow!
Setting out, Chris discovered that there was not an ice cream scoop to be found (apparently, the one used last year broke). Fortunately, a suitable replacement was found. Otherwise, we would have had to use they small plastic spoons that we would be using to devour our creations. I’m sure that
their there is at least one verse about good things coming to those who wait. HEY! Those of you who actually read these posts (I’m sure that there are 10s of you who do) can help me out here. All of you who do so will win the gratification of knowing that you posted God’s word and made my day a lot brighter and perhaps surpassing my own range. So the challenge is on! And the Heinz ketchup ad from the 80s (who can remember that far back) is NOT ACCEPTABLE!
OK… back to the topic at hand. There was a wide variety of toppings to choose from. The traditional vanilla or chocolate ice cream coupled with chocolate, caramel, or strawberry syrup. Chopped nuts, sprinkles, cherries, whipped cream (from the tub or my favorite canned Redi Whip…. AHHHHHHRRRRR). Gummy Bears and Worms, Crushed Oreos, Burnt Peanuts, Doritos, and jalapeno-flavored cheese puffs completed the array. DORITOS AND JALAPENO-FLAVORED CHEESE PUFFS ON ICE CREAM?!?!?! YES, INDEED. As one connoisseur advocated, the sweet flavor of the ice cream and traditional accoutrements combined with the salty taste of the cheese snacks was quite enjoyable. She created a ring of puffs around the rim of her bowl. Being the ever-so-adventurous soul that I am, took the puffs and used them to scoop my delectable creations (I think I had three creations by the end of the evening).
As the Super Bowl party unwound, those of us remaining engaged in a round of Cranium to challenge our creative abilities and minds even further. My first round attempt to get my team mates to guess the movie Pulp Fiction using various letters rolled on a set of dice did not go as planned. I kept hoping for a T for Travolta or Tarentino or something more useful than what I received like a J for Jackson. Having seen the movie only once (which was more than enough) I was unsuccessful in that attempt. Later, I attempted “Ghostbusters” by humming the theme which I though was fairly close. Since this was a more free-for-all after my team was victorious, I attempted to act it out as well. Finally, someone came up with the title.
Since, we have not met for a few weeks, it was also a great chance to catch up with each others. The Avell’s had just got back from a memorable excursion to Wisconsin. Keith was having a difficult week. And Dennis JONES was being Dennis Jones. As is always fun, we had some infrequent guests to share the evening with! So a grew time was had by in all our break from the awesomeness of God’s creation of our Polar Vortex.
“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through him and for him.” (Colossians 1:16)
