LASER TAG STRIKES BACK
After the events of the previous week (a close friend’s passing, a funeral, and a gathering of friends for a remembrance service), we once again met on Sunday evening. What better way to unwind then with still more LASER TAG! Since I was in town for the better part of the day and felt silly driving the ten miles home and back again, I went with Chris and munchkins to Wally World to get some goodies for the evening. Once again, Chester was able to join us as he had the evening off as the dancing, interactive Little Caesar’s crier. If you are in the area, be sure to drive by and give him a honk! I’m sure that he would be glad and give you a flip of his sign or one of his trademark thumb’s up. “Whatever you do, work heartily for it, as for The Lord and not for men, knowing that from The Lord you will receive inheritance as your reward. You are serving The Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24)
Looking back at my pics of the night, I notice a huge diminishing in the crowd. I see several reasons for this: Just a week before, we had the community pool to ourselves. It was Sunday evening and families winding down (the aforementioned pool party last weekend notwithstanding. OR…… it could be that my camera phone was very low on charge and someone forgot to bring his charger. Note to self… CHARGER=GOOD…. No Charger=Bad. (I can’t take my typical 874 pictures with a dead iPhone) I will take the heat and say that we had plenty of little ones to blast their lasers and gorge themselves on hot dogs and cheese puffs. However, we did have a few semi-regulars return. Dennis came with the rest of the Foust contingent and Rob, Olivia, and the McIlvain’s joined us. So the numbers may have been down from a week ago but it was made up for by the arrival of less familiar faves.
But those who gathered had a great time! It is great to see the number of friendships developing among our young ones while they gather in the name of Christ. Crazies at times but at other times they can be almost appear to be normal. The Laser Tag evenings seem to bring out the wild, rambunctious side of the young disciples.
While the laser tag was going on, Luke decided to take a trip to the imagination station. I noticed the little guy headed that way and jumped up to investigate further. While at the park, I was lead through the entire array of slides, bridges, and other toys. Thankfully, I was still not to big to slide down the tornado slide without causing catastrophe to the slide or myself. Unfortunately, the camera was exhausted by the time we walked over to the park. Of course, my young companion had much more energy than I (which is saying something) or maybe it was my need to visit the facilities and not wanting to leave Luke by himself. All too soon, it was time to rejoin our group and go our separate ways
