Spring Is Here?!?!
Well… the calendar says that Spring has sprung. We sprang ahead last weekend (it WAS last weekend, wasn’t it). The days are getting longer and we are being teased with those few days of warming temperatures only to come crashing back to the reality of mid-March. This Saturday saw the first of what I’m sure will be (contrary to our host’s instance that there shall be NO MORE BONFIRES AT MY HOUSE!) a few more hot dog/marshmelon roasts at Dennis JOOOOOOONES! place.
Throughout the few hours, there was football, leaf throwing (I was so lucky to be showered in some of the brown, decayed foliage left from last autumn, and fun bon fire activities. However, no bonfire sing. Odd how times have changed. No rousing rounds of Row Row Row Your Boat to liven things up. I also tested my fortitude in pigskin punting. I will allow the reader to extrapolate on that endeavor but it was a GLORIOUS spectacle. And don’t forget the laser tag… ALWAYS a sight to behold. The cool early Spring evening breeze kept things chilly and we wrapped things up a bit earlier than normal but all had a fun time!
We also welcomed some of our brothers and sisters from First Assembly to our Disciple Day gathering as well as some occasional gathered who decided to come out of hibernation. Pray that the approaching warmth will lead to greater numbers of old and new followers of all ages.
“For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.” (Song of Solomon 2:11-12)
