To say that it has been a while would be a gross neglect of the phrase. I have been searching maybe a bit like the writer of Ecclesiastes. I have found that there is nothing that has more worth than the search for truth. The search for truth when done right leads to the greatest treasure man could ever find. (Proverbs 3:13-15)

Everyone searches, most stop at the first glitter to find out too late that not all that glitters is gold. Many lose hope and fall into despair, soaking up their sorrows at the bottom of a bottle or in a drug. Some stop short by giving into shallow instant Christianity ( that has saved no one ever and gives a false sense of security ). Fewer still press on and figure out that this narrow passage is rooted in love but what is Love?

Love is a daily sacrifice of all the things that we would pursue, if the Passion in us wasn’t madly pursuing us with the same Love and Sacrifice we so desperately needed, to show us the Way. God all the way through His Word tells us how much He loves us but it isn’t until the Sacrifice that that love has something substantial we can see just how deep, far and high He is willing to go for us and truth be told He came to the point where He would hold nothing back to show us just how much we mean to Him. Not because of us, we were His enemies when He did this, but Because He is Love, shrouded in Grace, Mercy and Faithfulness. John 3:16

It is always easy to figure out who it is that has lost all hope and are following after the worlds pursuits, but a little more difficult to figure out who is just an instant Christian.

The way to gauge just where you are at or other people is to look at the sacrifice you or they make. Giving it all is what we are called to, not just some and it isn’t just giving it all, it is doing it for the Glory of God, not yourself. It’s not a means to an end it is the end to a means. Meaning you cannot and will not be able to sufficiently give all until God reveals Himself to you and saves you. No, it’s not some prayer you pray or a baptism you did, those are just things that show an outward expression of an inward change but if there is no real life change, then I would have to question whether I’m just an instant Christian. True Christians make a sacrifice of their life for the betterment of others and to the Glory of God. The change that takes place isn’t because they just wanted to, it’s because they have a drive that guides them to change. They still can choose which way to go but to follow that still small voice inside is their priority in life.

It really simply put just comes down to the sacrifice. God showed us His expectation in the sacrifice He made for us. What and how we sacrifice for others is the outline of what and how we think and believe about God in our own lives.

So with all that being said how are you sacrificing? To what extent and for what exactly are you sacrificing?

John 15:13 Greater Love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

This verse probably says it best if we give it all for the ones we love, even life itself, then we have loved to the utmost of its meaning. There is no greater love to show than to completely and totally give all we have. Sometimes that means saying and doing things that are uncomfortable but if we don’t try then we can’t say that we truly love that person. You would not let someone you love walk out into a street with a bus coming and get hit. Then why would we let them die and face judgment without at least telling them it’s coming. Maybe it means jumping out in the street to push them to safety. Sometimes it means going outside of anything we can do alone to see them saved, but whatever it looks like, it has to be all in. Anything less will not cut it with God. With all that said though, most will not see (Matthew 7:13-14) but our job is to bring the Good News. It’s God who brings the person to repentance. God provides the faith to save which leaves nothing we can do other than the great commission.

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

It comes down to the sacrifice we make because of the Sacrifice made for us. Beyond sacrificing all, we have to just trust that God has everything else under control.

A verse that means so much to me is what I am going to leave you with it is Matthew 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Remember always, you are loved.

Forgiven, not by anything I have done, thank you Jesus, but only because of what Jesus has done for me.
